Interactions and applications of homotopical algebra and geometry

The meeting was organized by Norbert and highlighted recent advances in homotopical algebra and geometry, their interactions and applications. Since its emergence in the 1960s, homotopical algebra has steadily gained in importance and applications. The latter range from algebraic topology and geometry to differential geometry and mathematical physics to topological data analysis and neuroscience. The conference was attended by 70 scientists, including leading scholars such as Ieke Moerdijk (Utrecht University), Vladimir Hinich (Haifa University), Hisham Sati (New York University Abu Dhabi), Bruno Vallette (Sorbonne University Paris Nord)…

Algebraic aspects in geometry

We chaired this European Science Foundation Research Conference on Algebraic Aspects in Geometry. The event was a collaboration with the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, the Stefan Banach International Mathematical Center, and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The meeting was held at the Mathematical Research and Conference Center in Bedlewo, 26 km southwest of Poznan, and addressed new advances and issues as well as long-term developments at the interface of geometry, algebra, and theoretical physics.

Supergeometry, supersymmetry, and quantization

This conference, organized by Norbert, brought together over 70 researchers in mathematics and physics at the University of Luxembourg to discuss recently developed topics, ongoing work and speculative new ideas in supergeometry and its applications in physics. Among them were world-leading scientists such as Albert Schwarz (University of California, Davis), Yuri Manin (Max Planck Institute for Mathematics, Bonn), Dimitry Leites (NYU Abu Dhabi and Stockholm University) and many others.

Poisson geometry and related fields

Norbert organized this National Research Fund Conference in 2004 to promote the newly established University of Luxembourg and its Mathematics Department, of which he was Head at the time. The meeting brought together well over a hundred researchers from all over the world at the University of Luxembourg, including world-leading mathematicians in the field such as Alan Weinstein, Yvette Kosmann-Schwarzbach, Kirill Mackenzie, Izu Vaisman, Tudor Ratiu, Anton Alekseev…
